Sanaa-Armed group attacked dozens activists Saturday in the capital city of Sanaa during a peaceful rally supported the ongoing Egyptians revolt and demanding their president « s regime to step down.
Protesters, who were journalists, rights activists and students, chanted "the people wants to overthrow the ruling regime".
Immediately, they were beaten with batons and straps, thrownwith shoes, insulted and threatened with stabbing by armed people in civilian uniforms, while they were heading to the Egyptian Embassy.
The armed gang personnel, who repeated "we sacrifice our spirits and blood for the sake of [President] Ali", believed to be intelligence agents for the regime being seen assaulting other activists in previous protests calling for president Saleh to leave the power. As well, the policemen who were near to the stage did notintervenetopreventthe abuse and blocked the protesters to reach the embassy.
Tawakkol Karman, a woman activist arrested previously for her key role in organizing protests against Saleh regime, was stabling-threatened.
Among of those abused were MPs Ahmed Saif Hashed and Aidaroos Alnaqeeb, as well as the woman journalist Samia al-Aghbary.
